 What is the subject- verb agreement? how we can define?

Introduction: 

The subject of a sentence tells about the person, place, animal or things that we are talking about. 

The subject does the action shown by the verb. 

1.If the sentences singular it takes singular verb if the sentence is plural it takes plural verb.

2. The form of the verb also needs to be modify according to the person of the subject.

Examples:

They are ploughing their field.

Here, the subject" They" is plural and the verb "are" according to the subject.

Stuti eats pizza. 

Here "Stuti "is singular noun and verb "eats" is also in  singular form with the S or Es.

Always remember it,the verb is always play the role according to the tenses.

2. Rules.(A)

* Two or more subjects are connected by " and" we use the "verb" plural form .

Example: 

Rohan and his friend play cricket.

Yah Radha and his friend is two subjects, also it's connected with the and so we use the plural verb. 

3. Rule (b)

A collective noun takes a singular verb. Nouns like "a pair of jeans" "a pair of scissors "etc are taken as singular and take a singular verb.

Example: 

The crew was arrested.

Here crew is collective noun.

A pair of shoes is laying there.

Here "a pair of shoes "is in plural form but we use the singular verb.

4. Rule (c)

Command subjects , and subjects name to be plural but we use singular verb.

Example: 

Politics is a dirty game.

Slow and steady wins the race. 

Indefinite pronounce everyone ,each ,someone,either... or ,neither ...nor ,nor only ....but also ,there,here... Here we apply the verb with the later subjects.

Pick the correct verbs to complete the sentences.

1. Jaspreet and Anand (is/ are/am)in the school football team.

2. My mother works in a bank .She( is /am/ are) the cashier.

3. I (is/am/are) fond of music.

4. The library books (is/ are /am) on the table.
